Water & Ice Rescue

Rocky Search and Rescue has a team of specially trained members known as Ice Rescue Technicians (IRT). This training is crucial for both emergency responders and anyone who spends time on frozen bodies of water like lakes, ponds, or rivers. During the course, participants learn to identify hazards specific to icy conditions and how to conduct rescues on ice.

In rescue scenarios, it's assumed that the ice is unsafe, so the focus is on teaching individuals how to rescue themselves and others. This involves learning various techniques and using specialized equipment. The training also covers important medical considerations for treating and safely removing individuals who have been immersed in cold water.
