Wildfire Update (RWF036) – May 15, 4:10 p.m.
Alberta Wildfire is actively responding to a wildfire (RWF036) which remains classified as out of control and has grown to approximately 1,043 hectares in size. This wildfire is located approximately 5 km north of the James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area, approximately 30 km west of the Town of Sundre and 20 km southwest of Burnstick Lake (northwest of Sundre near Highway 40 (Forestry Trunk Road) and Highway 584.)
This area remains on evacuation alert. There is no mandatory evacuation for residents at this time; however, the public has been cleared of this area to allow for firefighting operations to take place. Avoid the area until further notice. This alert will be updated if an evacuation of residents in the area is required. To support resources, Clearwater County has issued a State of Local Emergency (SOLE) for the impacted area.
