Museums & Historic Sites

Clearwater County celebrates the region's history and heritage by providing annual funding to help our cultural institutions operate successfully. The Rocky Mountain House Museum has displays that educate and entertain visitors with the story of the Western Canadian homesteading experience. The Caroline Wheels of Time Museum allows visitors to tour historic buildings including a restored log home and trapper's cabin, complete with artifacts. The Nordegg Historical Site showcases the Ghost Town of Nordegg and the impressive minesite buildings of the Brazeau Collieries Museum. Parks Canada protects the archaeological remains of four trading posts at the Rocky Mountain House Historic Site, while presenting the site's history.
