Clearwater County is served by the Parkland Regional Library system. Our three local branches are part of a cooperative network of 50 public and 48 school libraries, serving 198,696 Central Alberta residents by sharing materials, resources and expertise. Through the Parkland Regional Library's interlibrary loan system, our residents have access to materials from almost 100 participating libraries throughout Central Alberta.
Local libraries in our area can be found in the Village of Caroline, the Town of Rocky Mountain House and the Hamlet of Nordegg. Clearwater County provides annual funding to help ensure the success of the on-going operations of these libraries.
Our libraries offer a variety of programming, including: preschool programs, such as story-time for children; programs for older children and teens, such as summer reading clubs; and free computer and internet access for all library members. The Rocky Mountain House Public Library hosts a showcase cinema program in partnership with the Rocky Cinemas, which runs eight movies over the year. The Rocky library also houses a gallery space that hosts a different Canadian artist each month on an on-going basis.

Wildfire Update (RWF036) – 7:28 PM
There is an out-of-control wildfire located approximately 5 km north of the James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area, it is estimated to be approximately 1,028 hectares in size.
The location alert map has been updated to include properties west of Range Road 80 and north of the James River.
An evacuation alert has been issued for an area surrounding the wildfire.
Actions for the public: • All campers, traffic, and anyone in the backcountry within 10 km of Highway 734 near the Highway 584 junction should leave the area immediately. • Residents in the area must prepare for a possible evacuation. • There is no mandatory evacuation for residents at this time. • Everyone must avoid the area so wildfire crews can action the fire. • This alert will be updated if an evacuation of residents in the area is required.
